Our Story

Built from Frustration. Run on Principle.

BETA PROJECTS was born from a problem that kept showing up everywhere: talented independent artists creating remarkable work, only to have it disappear into the void — uncredited, undiscovered, unprotected, and unpaid.

The rights organizations existed. The databases existed. The distribution channels existed. But nobody was connecting the dots for independent artists who didn't have a team of lawyers and label executives behind them.

"Independent artists deserve the same infrastructure, protection, and discoverability as artists on major labels. We built the tools to make that possible."

So we built the tools ourselves. A metadata management system that talks to ASCAP, The MLC, SoundExchange, MusicBrainz, and DistroKid. A fan CRM. An AI lyric screening tool. A secure file portal for creative collaboration. And a catalog now exceeding 3,000 registered tracks spanning 8 genres — all properly credited, fully registered, and permanently searchable.

BETA PROJECTS is the result: an independent label that doesn't just release music. It builds the permanent infrastructure artists need to be heard, protected, and paid, now and decades from now.

The Founder

Michael Molony

Composer • Software Engineer • Label Operator

Michael Molony is a Las Vegas-based composer, software engineer, and entrepreneur who has spent his career at the intersection of music and technology. He built and maintains the entire BETA PROJECTS technology stack himself — from server infrastructure and mail systems to AI-powered creative tools and music metadata pipelines.

His background spans music composition, competitive programming (Project Euler, HackerRank), print shop tooling, digital services, and eBay operations. He runs BETA PROJECTS alongside a portfolio of client development projects, including work in commercial printing and digital services.

Founded in 2024, BETA PROJECTS has released albums and EPs across multiple artists and genres, with titles including Clockmaker's Collection (Volume I), Dinner for Eight, Footsteps Through the Celtic Mist, Raga Shreen, Ripples in Memories, and Trade Winds and Twilight under Michael Molony; Barstool Vacation, Love Don't End With Goodbye, No Expiration Date, On My Butt, and The Golden Years Lie under James Stewart Evans; and 10 More Chances under Sherry Winger.

Michael is also the founder of the AIMIE Awards — the Artificial Intelligence Music Innovation and Entertainment Awards — recognizing excellence at the intersection of AI and creative performance.
