1 Introduction

BETA PROJECTS ("we," "us," or "our"), operated by Michael Molony and based in Las Vegas, Nevada, is committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who visits our websites, uses our tools, or interacts with our services at betaprojects.com and related domains.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have regarding your information. It applies to all services we operate, including our music catalog, FanHub fan management platform, LyricShield lyric analysis tool, SecureTransfer file portal, and any other BETA PROJECTS service.

Our Commitment: We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We collect only what we need to provide our services, and we handle it with care.

2 Information We Collect

The types of information we collect depend on how you interact with BETA PROJECTS. Here is a breakdown by context:

  • Contact form submissions: Name, email address, and any message content you send us.
  • Newsletter sign-ups: Email address.

FanHub Users (Artists and Fans)

  • Fan records: First name, last name, email address, keyword tags, segmentation data, and any purchase history recorded in the FanHub system.
  • Imported fan data: When an artist imports a fan list via CSV, the data fields included in that import are stored in FanHub on the artist's behalf.
  • Email engagement: Email open and delivery status where applicable.

SecureTransfer Users

  • Uploaded files: Files uploaded to the SecureTransfer portal, including file names, sizes, types, and upload timestamps.
  • Access credentials: Any login information required to access the portal.

LyricShield Users

  • Lyric submissions: Lyric text submitted for analysis. This text is transmitted to our analysis engine and, optionally, to third-party APIs (Serper.dev for search, Anthropic Claude API for semantic analysis).
  • Analysis results: The output of the lyric analysis may be stored for audit and quality purposes.

Music Catalog / Artist Registration

  • Artist and work metadata: Artist names, IPI numbers, ISRC codes, ISNI identifiers, track titles, album titles, release dates, and associated rights information submitted for catalog registration.
  • Rights organization data: IDs and registration records from ASCAP, The MLC, SoundExchange, MusicBrainz, Wikidata, and DistroKid.

Payment Transactions

  • Payment transactions are processed through Stripe. BETA PROJECTS does not directly collect, store, or process credit card numbers, bank account details, or other payment credentials. All payment data is handled by Stripe in accordance with their privacy policy and PCI-DSS compliance standards.
  • We may receive transaction summaries (amount, date, item purchased) from Stripe for record-keeping purposes.

4 Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in the following circumstances:

Rights Organizations and Music Databases

As part of our catalog registration services, artist and work metadata (names, titles, IDs, credits) is submitted to and stored by third-party rights organizations and databases, including:

  • ASCAP, The MLC, SoundExchange, BMI, SESAC (performing rights and licensing organizations)
  • MusicBrainz (open music database)
  • Wikidata (open knowledge base)
  • DistroKid (music distribution platform)

Once submitted to these organizations, that data is governed by their own privacy policies and is often publicly searchable by design (especially MusicBrainz and Wikidata).

Payment Processing

Payment transactions are processed by Stripe, Inc. We share transaction data with Stripe to the extent necessary to complete and record payments. Stripe's privacy practices are described at stripe.com/privacy.

AI Service Providers

LyricShield's analysis engine transmits lyric text to third-party APIs:

  • Serper.dev — for phrase-level web search
  • Anthropic (Claude API) — optional semantic layer (when enabled)

Lyric submissions processed through these services are subject to the privacy policies of Serper.dev and Anthropic respectively.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or lawful government request, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

Business Transfers

In the unlikely event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of BETA PROJECTS' assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before such a transfer takes effect.

5 Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as it is necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by applicable law:

  • Server logs are retained for security analysis and then purged on a rolling basis.
  • FanHub data is retained for as long as the associated artist account is active, or until deletion is requested.
  • SecureTransfer files are retained for a limited time after upload.
  • LyricShield submissions may be retained for a limited period for quality assurance.
  • Music catalog metadata is retained indefinitely as part of the permanent catalog record, consistent with our mission to build lasting creative legacies.
  • Contact and newsletter data is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion.

6 Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the data we hold. These measures include:

  • HTTPS encryption for all web traffic across betaprojects.com and related domains
  • Server hardening including fail2ban intrusion detection, SSH port restriction, and access controls on our Plesk/CentOS server
  • DKIM email signing (2048-bit keys) for all outbound email
  • Offsite backups via encrypted rclone with incremental and full backup cycles
  • File storage with access controls on SecureTransfer
  • Payment data handled exclusively by Stripe (PCI-DSS compliant)

No system is completely secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

7 Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request that inaccurate or incomplete data be corrected.
  • Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten"), subject to certain legal exceptions.
  • Objection: Object to certain types of processing, such as direct marketing.
  • Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format, where technically feasible.
  • Unsubscribe: Opt out of marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@betaprojects.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable law.

Please note that some data submitted to third-party rights organizations (such as ASCAP, MusicBrainz, or Wikidata) may be outside our direct control, and deletion requests may need to be made directly to those organizations.

BETA PROJECTS uses minimal cookies to support basic website functionality. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or behavioral targeting cookies.

Cookies we may use include:

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar tracking services. Server-side analytics (AWStats) are used to aggregate traffic statistics without installing cookies on your device.
